Carl Edward Reischling Jr.

Reischling, Carl E., Jr. – age 69 of Seymour, went to be with the Lord at 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Carl was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville. He was a graduate of South High School and attended Knoxville Business College. A veteran of the United States Army, Carl was an Army Sergeant serving the 57th Signal Battalion in Korea during the Vietnam War Era. Carl was a retired employee of Knox County and was an avid sports enthusiast and loved to travel. He possessed a kind and gentle spirit and always wanted to help others. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Virginia Reischling and a stepson, David Flanagan. He is survived by his loving wife, Jama Derden Reischling; brother and sister-in-law, George and Beverly Reischling; sister, Kathy Smith; mother-in-law, Doris Derden; stepdaughters, Tonya Greene and husband Bryan, Stephanie Clevenger and husband Mark; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to UT Medical Center physicians Stephen Miller, William Snyder, Robert Bertolli, nurse Jamie Loveday, and to the staff of Tennova Residential Hospice for all the compassion and care provided to Carl during his illness. A funeral service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Knoxville officiated by Tom Ogburn, D. Min. and Reverend Dave Ward. Family and friends will meet at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (John Sevier Highway) for a 1:30 p.m. interment service with full military honors presented by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jon Reischling, Todd Reischling, Bryan Greene, Mark Clevenger, Tyler Sloan, and Chuck James. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Knoxville Music Ministry, 510 W. Main Street, Knoxville, Tennessee 37902.
