George Edward Jack

GEORGE EDWARD JACK, 101, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018. A native Knoxvillian, Mr. Jack was the son of Joseph Edward Jack and Ibbie Rowlance Jack. In addition to his parents, other immediate family preceding him in death are his wife of 55 years, Mildred Curtis Jack, his son, Joe Curtis Jack, his brother, Roger Cloyd Jack, his nephew, David Lee Jack and his extended granddaughter, Laura Joy Muntz. Immediate family left to carry on his legacy of faith and service are daughter and son-in-law, Ibbie Ann Jack and John L. Muntz of Knoxville; grandchildren, Rod Jack (Jennifer) and Lisel Jack of Knoxville, Jonathan Laster (Jennifer) of Nashville, Jennifer Laster Bylund of Windsor, Colorado and extended granddaughter, Sarah E. Muntz of Denver, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Abby Jack, Tucker Jack, Caroline Jack, Grace Ann Laster, George Laster, Seth Bylund and Jonas Bylund; great-nephews, Jason Jack and Daniel Jack of Birmingham, Alabama. A 1936 graduate of Knoxville High School, Mr. Jack served well his city, his church, his friends, his family and his God. He was named one of "The Knoxville 200" in its 1991 Celebrate Knoxville Bicentennial Volunteer Recognition program. He was a proud 41- year Bell System employee and active, generous volunteer, officer and Life Member in its service organization, Telephone Pioneers of America/AT&T Pioneers. He was a Past Master and Life Member of Masonic Lodge #244, F&AM. A Memorial Service to praise God for the life of George Edward Jack, will occur Sunday, August 19, 4:00 p.m., in the sanctuary of his church, Trinity United Methodist Church, 5613 Western Avenue, Knoxville, TN with The Reverend David L. Tabor and The Reverend John L. Muntz as officiants. A reception will follow. Private burial will be at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at convenience at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, Saturday, August 18 between 9:30am and 4:30pm. Graveside arrangements by Rose Mortuary.
