Louise C. Holden

Louise C. Holden, August 23, 1927- August 8,2022 Widow of the late Earl O. Holden. Born to the late Robert and Lucy Corbin in Franklin, N.C., Louise was the oldest of four siblings, the late Robert Corbin, Jr., the late Francis Crisp, and her surviving sister Linda Corbin. Louise graduated from Franklin High School, Franklin, NC at the age of sixteen with honors. She then traveled to Knoxville where she attended Knoxville Business College and married Earl O. Holden in 1947. She began her career at the Tansi Girl Scout headquarters, followed by being church secretary at Fourth Presbyterian Church, and lastly bookkeeper for Tennessee Mortgage Company. In her retirement she gained great pleasure from her active participation in Hillcrest United Methodist Church. She served on various committees throughout her membership there. Top Forty Group, Sunday School for Seniors, Bereavement Committee, Vacation Bible School, Dogwood Elementary School Teacher Appreciation Days, Angel Food Ministry, Baby Blanket Ministry, Hillcrest Nursing Home Ministry, Prayer Chain Ministry, and numerous others. Her life revolved around her church and her family. She truly had a servant’s heart. Her love of God and family were evident and steadfast in her daily life. Louise was a good listener and confidant to those who knew her well. She was slow to anger and always had a giggle to share. Louise was a longtime fan of UT football and basketball. A UT win always brought a smile to her face, and when UT lost, she would always laugh at herself for being upset. Louise’s family was the highlight of her life and she excelled at being a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and best friend to son-in-law Andrew Neely. She will be missed beyond words by her family. She is survived by her sister, Linda Corbin; daughter, Diane Holden Neely; son-in law, Andrew S. Neely; grandson, Scott Holden Neely; granddaughter, Rebecca C. Neely and her husband, Thomas Wasmund; great grandson, Dylan James Wasmund, and her nieces and nephews. A private service will be held for the immediate family. Officiates will be the Reverends Pat Polis and Monty Walton. The family would like to thank Dr. Dean Mire, Covenant Hospice Care, Amedysis Hospice Care, and the amazing nursing staff and assistants on the Memory Care Unit at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living. Also, a special thank you for the extraordinary care and support provided by Corky Staley. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 27, 2:00 PM at Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 1615 Price Ave., Knoxville, TN.
