Lynne Hart Bowlby

BOWLBY, Lynne Hart, 87, of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2024. Lynne was born on April 13, 1937 to John Rhea and Lois Bailey Hart in Knoxville, TN. Though she lived in different states across the US with her husband and youngest children, Knoxville was always home. Growing up, Lynne spent her summers enjoying the beauty of her family’s farmland, and her children had the privilege of experiencing the joy it brought to life, as well. She brought joy to those around her, and she left a beautiful legacy. Simply put, family was everything to Lynne. Her husband Darrell and five children were the absolute joys of her life. As her children’s families grew, so did Lynne’s joy. She always had more love to give to each grandchild and then each great-grandchild as they were welcomed into the family. Lynne is survived by her five children - Phillip Craig Bowlby, Jennie Bowlby Williams (Greg), Leona Bowlby Neumann (Jason), Debra Bowlby Humphries (David), and Robert John Bowlby (Jess); her nine Grandchildren – Brock Williams; Calyn Williams Meade (Nick); Austin Proffitt (Elaine); Nicole McDaniel; David Humphries II; Chelsey Newman (Corey); Olivia, Henry, and Noah Bowlby; and her nine Great-Grandchildren – Ava, Everett, and Logan Proffitt; Meredith and Jameson Meade; Carter, Caroline and Chloe Newman; Jaxon Hinkle. Second to Family, Lynne found her joy in gardening, painting, reading, and the Big Orange Tennessee Volunteers and serving others. It was evident by her work that Lynne was a servant at heart. She worked as a housekeeper for many years at Shannondale Retirement Community and loved building friendships with the residents. Prior to retirement, Lynne was a food service worker for Knox County Schools at West Hills Elementary for over 20 years. Seeing the students each day always brought a smile to her face. Lynne was preceded in death by her husband Darrell Leon Bowlby, her parents, her sisters, Jennie Hart Reid, Anne Hart-Murrian, and Yvonne Rhea Hart Sorey, and her brother, John Ronald Hart. Receiving of Friends will be on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 1-3pm at Rose Funeral and Cremation-Mann Chapel. Private burial to follow.
