Thomas William (Bill) Granger

Thomas William (Bill) Granger, age 93, of Knoxville, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. He was born on January 10, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee. His parents were the late Otis and Margaret Stover Granger. He graduated from Southside High School, and he met the love of his life, Gail Grotewiel, during those high school years. They were happily married for 62 years. Bill was a veteran who served in the United States Air Force. Bill, Gail, and their three children moved in 1969 to East Tennessee, which became home for them. Bill was a loyal and dedicated employee of BellSouth for 42 years serving in Public Relations for many of those years. He received distinguished service awards from his company. He was a longtime member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Morristown and served as President of the Morristown Rotary Club. After retiring, he spent his time traveling, on their farm in Missouri, or at home in Knoxville. Bill loved to cheer on the Vols at football and basketball games, spend time with friends and family, swim, travel in their RV, and enjoy life. Bill was always one to advocate for a cause, enjoyed telling a good joke, and appreciated gathering with loved ones around the table. Bill was a follower of Christ and a member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Margaret Granger; brother Gene Granger; beloved wife Gail Grotewiel Granger; daughter Carla Granger Dillard; and great-grandson Gabriel Morgan. Bill is survived by his son Thomas William Granger, Jr. and wife Janice of Hoover, AL; son Scott Granger and wife Nancy of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Erin Granger Rogers and husband Dustin; Thomas William Granger III and wife Christy; Lauren Granger Morgan and husband Tommy; Lindsay Granger Morris and husband Zach; Bradley Granger; Joseph Dillard; and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Rose-Mann Funeral Home (Kingston Pike) on Tuesday, October 8, from 12:30 pm-1:30 pm with a service to follow at 1:30 pm. After the service, a graveside ceremony will be held at Highland Memorial Cemetery on Sutherland Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to Project Gabriel (theprojectgabriel.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
