Alfred Allan Robinson

It is with a sad and heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and friend, Alfred Allan Robinson, born July 7, 1930. He died peacefully at home on August 31, 2024. He married the love of his life, Sandy Weisberg, on May 29, 1955, and they spent 70 wonderful years together. He is preceded in death by his parents, Max Robinson, Rose Blumberg Robinson, brother Melvin Robinson, and nephew Jeffrey Robinson. Al is survived by his wife, Sandy, and children Ronda (Hal Miller) and Richard (Aileen O'Neill). Alfred grew up on Fifth Avenue in Knoxville and then his family moved to Sequoyah Hills. He attended Knoxville High School and was in the class of 1948. He attended the University of Tennessee, Ohio State University, and graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in business. He served in the army as a sergeant, and it was during this time he met Sandy, who was a student at the University of Tennessee. After their marriage, they built a home together in West Hills, where they lived for their entire marriage. After his service in the army, Alfred joined his father at S.H. Robinson Co. in his scrap metal business. After his father's passing, Alfred began an auction career and was highly respected. He was the first auction commissioner for the state of Tennessee, proudly owned state license number one. He performed auctions across the South, mainly for bankruptcy courts, and in industrial and real estate industries. He also graciously donated his services to raise money for many charity events. Al was a member of Heska Amuna Synagogue for over 90 years. Al was a selfless, affectionate, optimistic, and a kindhearted soul with a keen sense of humor, according to all that knew him, and he was loved by all who met him. He enjoyed playing poker and gin rummy, hiking, wildlife, and birdwatching. He was also a tremendous Latin dancer, learned from his days in Miami. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and beloved wife, Sandy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We love you, Al. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at New Jewish Cemetery in Knoxville.
