Ann Maloy Dorman

Ann Maloy Dorman was born on March 11,1993 to Marshall Dorman and Melissa Clayton Dorman (deceased). Maloy was raised by Marshall and her adoptive mother Shari Dorman and she shared a close bond with her siblings: Hali Moreno (Ben), Clayton Dorman and Sofi Dorman and her grandmother, Alice Clayton. Maloy graduated from the Christian Academy of Knoxville in 2011 and obtained a degree in political science and public administration from the University of Tennessee. She was employed as an Executive Assistant for a holdings company. Maloy unexpectedly passed away in her home in St. Petersburg, Florida on November 15, 2022 after a brief illness. Maloy’s short, bright 29 years on this earth evinced her insatiable hunger for adventure and connection. For Maloy, casual jaunts across the country to see friends and family and trips to the far reaches of the globe were routine. This past June, Maloy booked a spontaneous trip to the Holy Land and took with her only a backpack and two outfits. In the past twelve months alone, Maloy hiked the stairs of Machu Picchu, rode camels past the pyramids of Egypt, and received a blessing in the waters of the Jordan River. Sky diving, scuba diving, surfing- Maloy’s adventurous spirit led her to experience more of the world than most people manage in a full lifetime. She made it to every major league ball park - go Phillies. Maloy was brave and independent, but she also loved extravagantly and doted on her little sister Sofi, who Maloy called “Pearl,” and her nieces, Evie and Lila, with abandon. When an unexpected package arrived in the mail, it was usually from Maloy. She took time to send her family post cards and souvenirs from the exotic places she visited and never missed a “happy cake day” text or phone call to the ones she loved. Maloy celebrated every occasion to the hilt. Maloy also fiercely loved and was ever-proud of her little brother, Clayton. Her last messages to her family in the days and even hours before her death spoke of her excitement to see her siblings over Thanksgiving and her nieces at their birthday party in December. Maloy inspired many with her presence on social media. Between posts of her riding dune buggies in the Sahara Desert and dining on the Mexican Riviera, Maloy shared quotes about love, living life to the full, and the importance of reaching out to people who are struggling. Maloy’s death has sent shockwaves through her family and friends and is a reminder to never hesitate sending a “thinking of you” text or call whenever a loved one comes to mind. Maloy professed Jesus Christ as her Savior, so through tears and great grief, our joy will remain with the knowledge that Maloy has just begun her greatest adventure of all. Services will be held on Saturday, November 26, at 11:30 am at Rose Funeral & Cremation - Mann. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 - 11:30 am.
