Ann M. Kemmer

Kemmer, Ann M. – age 77, of Knoxville, was born in Medon, Tennessee and passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Ann was married to the late Herman C. Kemmer, of Spring City, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Bolivar Central High School, class of 1953 and the University of Tennessee, class of 1957 with a degree in Home Economics. Ann had retired from Proffitt's Department Store where she had worked as a home economist for 25 years; during which time she taught cooking classes and conducted product demonstration's in "Ann's Kitchen." Ann was also an active lifelong member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority; serving as the Chapter Advisor for the University of Tennessee Zeta Chapter, province president, and a member of the foundation and National Scholarship Committee for over 21 years. She was also recognized as a 50 year member and received the Honor Ring, the sorority's highest honor for meritorious service. Ann was actively involved in with the Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure" as the Knoxville "Survivors" Chairperson and was bestowed with the Founder's Award and the Promise of One Award. Ann was also preceded in death by her parents, Sam Allen McMaster and Inez Cearley McMaster; brothers, Jerry C. McMaster and wife, Flossie, of Martin, Tennessee, and Aubrey E. McMaster, of Monroe, Louisiana; sister, Joyce McMaster Theobald, of Bloomington, Illinois. She is survived by her son, Karl A. Kemmer and wife Heidi, of Knoxville; sister, Jane M. Wilson and husband Clay, of Paris, Tennessee; nephew, Carlton Gerrell and wife Norma, of Paris, Tennessee; nieces, Ann T. Hollenbeck and husband Brent, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Jane T. Stein and husband Marc, of Austin, Texas; brother-in-law, Tom Theobald of Bloomington, Illinois. A graveside service will take place on Friday at 11:00 am at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Chad Sparks officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Zeta Tau Alpha foundation, 3450 Founders Rd., Indianapolis, TN 46268-1334 or the Komen Race for the Cure – Knoxville, 318 Nancy Lynn Ln. #13, Knoxville, TN 37919.The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
