Anne Wayland "Miss Anne" Lambert

LAMBERT, ANNE WAYLAND - age 82, of Knoxville, was born July 31, 1928 and died on September 21, 2010 at Shannondale Health Care Center after an extended illness. Anne was the seventh child and only daughter of Charles F. Wayland, Sr. and his wife Ina Fields Wayland. She is a member of Bearden United Methodist Church and was a well known singer who sang in the choirs of Park City Presbyterian, Church Street United Methodist, and Bearden United Methodist churches. She also sang with the Knoxville Choral Society. Anne served on the board of the March of Dimes, the Arthritis Foundation, and the Heart Fund. She served on the Mayor's Committee on the Handicapped during the term of Randy Tyree. Early in her career, she worked as the East Tennessee Coordinator for Tennessee Services for the Blind and was always proud of her work there. She is retired from the Welfare and Retirement Fund of the United Mine Workers Union. She taught Arts and Crafts at the Knoxville Evening High School for several years. While living in Nashville she worked with the Tennessee Historic Sites Foundation with Oren Wickersham June, a nationally recognized historical preservationist. She worked for several years at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in the Physicians Medical Education and Research Foundation and in the Office of Continuing Medical Education. She served for three years as the director of the Coordinated Cooperative Cardiac Rehab Program operated by UT, Fort Sanders and St. Mary's Hospitals. Her last position in the University was in the Department of Speech and Audiology on the Knoxville Campus. Anne was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Charles, Jr., Jack, Herman, Dick, Clifford and Ted. She is survived by her husband, Walter Lambert; son, Michael H. Lambert; granddaughter, Marley Anne Lambert; sister-in-law, Barbara Wayland; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who have been devoted to her. The family appreciates the good care which Anne received at UT Medical Center and at Shannondale Health Care Center. At Anne's request, the family would appreciate your making a donation to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers. Anne was particularly fond of the work of H.A.B.I.T. which works with volunteers to bring dogs, cats, and rabbits to visit schools, nursing homes, and hospitals. Funeral Service Thursday 7:00 PM at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. Bill Kilday officiating. Family and friends will gather on Friday at 10:45 AM at the entrance to Highland Memorial Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment service.
