Barbara Ann Rouse

Barbara Ann Dyer Rouse, of Knoxville, Tennessee, went to see the Lord on April 14, 2016. She was 84 years young as of December 25, 2015. She was a Member of Christ the Rock Church of God. She is preceded in Death by William C. Dyer and Iola Trecia Gains Dyer. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Rev. Jesse P. Rouse. And her Daughters Trecia Rouse Bush Todd, Donna Rouse Mashburn Repper and Beth Rouse Swany. In addition there are nine loving grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, sisters, Joyce Auddrey Dyer, and Carol Lillian Dyer Northern. She was an amazing woman, and never met a stranger. Everyone knew, very quickly, that she was a Christian, and a Godly woman, and if there was anything she could do to help them, she had to try. She was very dedicated to her job. She was so proud to represent the University of Tennessee as a police officer for 25 years with several accommodations from the President of the University to The Governor of Tennessee. Being a pastor's wife, she saw her career as her ministry. And she took every opportunity she could, to share her faith with an amazing smile. Not only was she a minister's wife, she was: Miss Knoxville 1948, One of the first Meter Maids in Knoxville in the 1960’s, the first police woman at The University of Tennessee, a graduate of the Donaldson Police Academy, a graduate of Walter State in criminal justice, the first police woman to become Sargent at The University of Tennessee, worked as lead officer in crime prevention, worked with the rape crisis center, and still found time to Coach Girls Softball at Alice Bell Ball Park. She was special, not only to her family, but to anyone who had the opportunity to meet her. She changed so many lives. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Saturday April 23, Rose Mortuary, Broadway Chapel, 1421 N. Broadway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37917. A prayer service will follow at 6:00 pm led by Rev. Steven Gardener of Christ the Rock Church of God, at 6pm. A Celebration of Life service will be at a later date. In Lieu of Flowers Donations can be made to Christ the Rock Church of God or to The Church of God Smoky Mountain Children’s Home in Sevierville, Tennessee.
