Mrs. Betty Ann Pollock

Betty Pollock age 92 of Knoxville passed away peacefully at her home on April 4, 2016. She was of the Episcopal faith. Betty was preceded in death by parents William and Ollie Wayland, brother, Howard Wayland and husband of 53 years Charles Pollock. A loving son John Pollock survives her. Betty attended Bob Jones University and worked for the 4th circuit and Juvenile court systems of Knox County until she took an early retirement to be a caregiver for her mother. During her life Betty had a number of interest, which included china painting with her neighbor the late Margaret Thompson, house decorating and taking care of her pets and outside animals. One of Betty’s passions was travel. She had traveled throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. One of her most memorable trips was with a group who circumnavigated the globe in 34 days with stops in eight countries including Afghanistan just before the Soviet invasion. She had a trip to Scotland with her neighbor the late Edith Jones which gave her much inspiration and great memories. Even after she suffered a stroke two years ago she still enjoyed short trips. Throughout Betty’s life she worked with the Knoxville Clean Air League, contributed time to the Mabry Hazen House and the Holston Hills Community Club. She had a warm heart and would always help sick relatives, friends and neighbors. John would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors of Fort Sanders Hospital. The staff of Holston Rehabilitation, Covenant Home Health and Hospice. Recognition of Always Best Care its staff and a special thanks to Jeannine. He greatly appreciates the assistance of Betty’s primary physician, Doctor Jeffery Swilley and the staff of the Southern Medical Group. During this difficult time he would also like to forward my thanks to his neighbors in Holston Hills and friends who have given him so much support during this difficult time. Family and friends will meet 10:00 AM Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery for a graveside service with The Reverend John Mark Wiggers officiating. In lieu of flowers Betty would prefer donations be made to the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley. Online condolences may be sent to www.rosemortuary.com.
