Bettye Jane Hancock Allen

Bettye Jane Hancock Allen went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 24th, 2019. She was ninety-one years old. She was a life-long member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church and a member of the Light Bearers Sunday School Class. She loved her Sunday School Class and considers all of the members as good friends. She was a graduate of Knoxville High School – Class of 1945. Ms. Allen retired from South Central Bell with thirty-six years of service and was a life member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She was also a member of Communication Workers of America Local 3805 in Knoxville. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Preceptor Alpha Sigma Chapter. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dora M. Hancock, brother, Joseph E. Hancock, sister, Helen H. Deford, two sisters-in law, Betty Sue Horne Hancock and Leila Caldwell Hancock, nephew John William Deford (Willie) and her most precious and Beloved daughter, Ginger Allen Rudder and son-in law Dr. Charles S. Rudder. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Karen & Ron Swafford of Maryville with whom she made her home, two brothers Paul H. Hancock & Don F. Hancock of Knoxville, grandchildren Kassi, Kayla, and Beau Swafford of Maryville and Clayton M. Rudder and his wife Melissa & their children Elizabeth, Josiah, Charles S. Rudder III and Clayton Jr. of Clarksville. One great-granddaughter, Luciana Michele Swafford. Also surviving her is a true and Loyal Friend of a long time who is like a daughter to her, Deborah (Debbie) Guyton of Dallas, Texas. Ed Hancock & his wife Kathy, Allan Hancock and his wife Letha and Gary Hancock, niece Donna Roberts and her husband Terry, and Cindy Allen Ridgell of Athens, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sevier Heights Baptist Church Music Ministry or to the Arthritis Foundation. The family will receive friends 10: 00 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 26th, 2019, at ROSE MORTUARY BROADWAY CHAPEL with the funeral service to follow.
