Bobbie P. Wilson

Bobbie Britton Wilson, 84, of Knoxville, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday January 17, 2016, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was a loving a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (Mommy-Bobbie). Her faith and her family were the center of her world. She was preceded in death by parents, Jay C. and Bobbie Edwards Britton; sister-in-law, Jean Perryman; and brothers-in-law, Floyd Wilson and Jerry Morris. She is survived by the love of her life, Rev. Earl H. Wilson, with whom she celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage with this year. She is also survived by son and daughter-in-law, David and Faye Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Rocky Castenir; sister, Jennie Morris; grandchildren and their spouses, Karah and Erick Loveland, Kacye and Daniel Castillo; great-grandchildren, Ruben, Ian, Ehlii, and Yair Castillo, Emberly, Kelaney, and Kasten Loveland; nieces, nephews, and their spouses, Elizabeth Kelly, Bill and Melanie Wilson, Cindy Clemons and David Rosenbaum, MyLil Buttitta, Teri and Greg Hicks, Leslie Morris; great-nieces, nephews, and their spouses, Tracy and Robert Tipton, Kristen and Earon Edwards, Blake Wilson, Jessica and Matt Foster, Jordan Clemons, Leigh Hicks, and Jennifer Hicks, and great-nephew, Mitch Morris; special friends, Rev. and Mrs. Jim and Lib McCluskey, Rev. and Mrs. Jim and Imogene Hutson, Leon and Lillis Julian, several cousins, and many friends. Bobbie was currently a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, and Katherine Fortner’s Sunday School Class. She worked tirelessly in numerous ways to support the ministry and the needs of the people in the five churches and eleven interims her husband pastored, and was highly involved in the Women’s Missionary Union. She served eight years as the Director of the Knox County Association of Baptist Women’s Missionary Union. She also served four years on the State Executive Board of the Tennessee Women’s Missionary Union. While in Nashville when her husband was President and Executive Treasurer of the Tennessee Baptist Foundation, Bobbie helped organize and worked with International Friends, teaching English as a Second Language at Brentwood Baptist Church, and also volunteered teaching Adult Literacy, Her ministry was to make a difference in someone’s life, and through her infectious smile, her remarkable laugh, her hospitality, encouragement, nurturing, mentoring, unconditional loving, and sharing her faith in her Lord, she touched and enriched many lives. Those who knew her felt blessed to call her friend. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Thursday January 21, 2016, at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Kent Williams and Rev. Daniel Castillo officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mission Field: Women’s Missionary Union Wallace Memorial Baptist Church (701 Merchant Dr. Knoxville, TN 37912).
