Bobby Gene Bond

Bond, Bobby Gene, age 75 of Knoxville, passed away May 4, 2012. Bobby was a New Year's baby, born on January 1, 1937 in Parsons, TN. Bobby was an extremely intelligent man who knew a little about everything and would share his knowledge and stories with those around him. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden where he had many close friends and was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church where he helped with the underground tunnel. Bobby grew up in Camden, TN before moving to Knoxville where he graduated from the University of Tennessee. He worked for TVA for over 40 years and retired in 2000 from the Heavy Equipment Division. Bobby met many of his very close friends there and was a very loyal and generous friend who would do anything for his buddies. Bobby was a phenomenal hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed being outdoors on the water or hunting in Illinois with his many friends. He especially loved his fishing and hunting trips with his son, Cory. He enjoyed woodworking; He could fix or build anything and he was very proud of the furniture he built. He helped build the addition to his home and the building of his lake house. He was an extremely talented craftsman. Bobby enjoyed researching his ancestors and genealogy and was very proud of his Tennessee roots. He discovered that he was a descendant from several first families of Tennessee. Bobby was a very loving involved grandfather to his three grandsons. He enjoyed watching them play sports and spent many days at the ball field and swim meets. They gave him such joy. He taught them about fishing and hunting and shared all his knowledge with them. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Clifford Bond; his brother, David Bond and his high school sweetheart and wife of over 30 years, Carolyn Adams Bond. He is survived by his son and best friend, Cory Bond; daughter-in-law, Cristin McNally Bond; his three precious grandsons, Addison James, Noah Phillip and Nathan Cory Bond; and his very special friend, Sharon Toussek. A graveside service will be held 12:00 PM noon Tuesday at Highland Memorial Cemetery, with a Celebration of Bobby's Life held at 3:00 PM Tuesday at Central Baptist Church, Bearden with Dr. Larry Fields and The Reverend Father David Boettner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
