Rev. Carl W. Ware

Rev. Carl W. Ware, Jr, age 93 of Knoxville, died peacefully Friday, November 12, 2021 at home with his children at his side. Carl was a native of McCaysville, Georgia/Copperhill, Tennessee and was the oldest son of Carl W. Ware, Sr. and Edna Williams Ware. After graduating from High School, Carl enlisted in the United States Navy, and served during World War II. In 1948, he married Daisy K. Alley, the woman whom he loved better than life, who became his partner and unfailing support for the next 64 years before her death in 2012. He was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College and Candler School of Theology. Carl committed his life wholly to Christ without reservation in 1954, and responded to God’s call to active ministry in the United Methodist Church, where he and Daisy served twelve different pastorates in the Holston Conference, over the next 40 years before retiring in 1996. After a move to Florida, Carl and Daisy returned to Knoxville in 2007 to be near their children and grandchildren. Carl Ware was a gifted pulpit preacher, and a humble servant of the Lord, always with a heart of passion for anyone seeking a deeper life changing relationship with Christ. He never failed to share the “Good News” even until the last days of his life. “His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:21. In addition to his parents and beloved wife Daisy, Carl is preceded in death by brother H. G. (Tommy) Ware, and sister Joann Arp, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law. He is survived by his children: Sam and Karen Ware, Rhonda and Michael McKinnon, and Leonette Ware. Grandchildren: Laura and James Paschke, Melissa Stutts, Rebecca Ware, Brandon and Ginger McKinnon, Ryan and Nikki McKinnon, and Jordan McKinnon. Great Grandchildren: Sarah Grace Paschke, Abigail Kathryn Stutts, Savanna Grace and Ava Lynn McKinnon, William Michael, Dawson Wayne and Greyson Ryan McKinnon, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 at Hillcrest United Methodist Church with Dr. Pat Polis and the Rev. Monty Walton officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. preceding the service. Interment will take place 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2021. Bookwalter United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hillcrest United Methodist Church, Pastor’s Discretionary Fund at 1615 Price Ave. Knoxville, TN 37920.
