Mrs. Carmen Delarosa Kurth

Kurth, Carmen Delarosa, age 91, left her many friends and loving family to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 24, 2014. She lived a full and blessed life owning and operating the Mexicali Rose Mexican restaurant for many decades. Her food was famously popular with many, and her generosity and kindness was felt by everyone. Her most popular restaurant was fondly known as Mexicali Rose on Bearden Hill. Carmen arrived in Knoxville from Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1973, and opened her first restaurant in 1974 at the Orange Tee, she named it; Mexicali Rose. Hers was the first Mexican restaurant in Knoxville. Carmen is survived by her loving children: Charles Kurth (Diane) of Dallas, TX, Nancy Kurth Bustani (Joe)West Palm Beach, FL, Linda Kurth Crapps (Wise) Leesville, SC, and Beverly Kurth Poe (Steve) Knoxville. She was a doting and loving grandmother to Waylon (Katie) and Joshua Marcum, Bradley(Christy), Brian, Brady Kurth, and Alexandria(John) Payne, Lisa(Steve), Dina, and Joseph(Lisa)Bustani, Gary and Ruthanne Gibson, and Rebecca Butler. Her son Robert (Bob) Kurth preceded her in death in 2013. Carmen also had fourteen great-grandchildren, including Addison Marcum of Knoxville. A very special Thank You to: Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice for their care, compassion and love. Also, Beverly (daughter) and Steve Poe who nurtured, cared for, and greatly loved our mother particularly during the last two and half years in their home. We have lost a special lady, and a true friend, and Knoxville has lost a piece of our history. Rest in peace, Carmen, you will be greatly missed by many who were honored to know you as a dear friend and mother.
