Christina Poole

Christina, also known by Tina to family and friends earlier in life, was born to Russell and Norma McLaughlin on December 28, 1942. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her children Amy Wilbanks (Todd), Anne Bernot (Bernard) and Victoria Childress; grandchildren Noelle, Brooke and Langley; stepdaughter Laura Garry (Shannon); stepson Jeremy Poole (Debbie); stepgrandchildren Timothy, Aidan, Addison, Delaney, and Caleb; siblings Karen (Johnny predeceased), Stephen (Mimi), Lisa (Jim), Gini (Dennis), Scott (Rose). She was predeceased by her parents, stepfather Maurice, and brother Guy (Sue). Chris passed away in her sleep on January 8, 2024. She began her journey through life in Collingswood, NJ. She graduated from Pemberton High and then went on to Dean Junior College in Massachussetts to get an Associate's Degree. She graduated with a Master's Degree from Tusculum University in TN in 1992. She was so proud of that accomplishment! She was a lifelong learner and avid reader. Chris survived thyroid cancer earlier in life, and spent a significant amount of time researching alternative remedies to help with the side effects of treatment. She was passionate about volunteering. She lead her daughters's girl scout troop during their youth, which included the daunting task of being cookie mom! She volunteered for SouthEast Research Foundation, hospice, Second Harvest and most recently the Fish Pantry. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. Chris loved to travel. She did the research, planned the trips and explored many parts of the world, including China, Mexico, Canada, various European countries, Puerto Rico and Aruba. Her favorite type of travel was by river cruise. The love of travel seems to have been passed down to her children as well. Chris often involved her family in trips, or would plan vacations to visit family or bring family together- more recently to be involved in "The Grands" extracurricular activities. No matter what the destination, there would be game time (some favorites include Mexican Train, charades, Heads Up, and cards), lots of laughter and some fabulous cooking. New recipes or old, she loved to cook and try new things! If you would like to join us in the celebration of her life, the services will be held on Saturday, January 13th at 2pm at Second Presbyterian Church at 2829 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. We would really appreciate your special memories being posted on the Rose Funeral website. There will also be a live feed of services for those who are not able to join at www.2ndpres.org. In lieu of flowers, Chris requested donations be sent to organizations that research lung, heart or cancer diseases or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
