D. Christopher Hutchinson

Donald Christopher Hutchinson “Chris”, 50, died at home on June 24th, 2023 after a long and courageous journey with Multiple Sclerosis. Chris was born in Boston, MA, on September 23rd, 1972, the son of Donald and Beverly Hutchinson. Chris graduated from Farragut High School, where he was student council president, in 1990. He graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance in 1994 and from the National Center for Paralegal Training in Atlanta in 1995. Chris worked as a Paralegal for AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Takada in Greensboro, NC and as a personal web designer. Chris was a strong and courageous man. He had a great sense of adventure and an equally great sense of humor. Chris was keenly interested in religion, politics and current events. He had a wealth of knowledge about history and enjoyed telling stories. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Prior to his diagnosis with MS, Chris was always healthy and physically active: he became an Eagle Scout at age 13; loved camping, rock climbing and hiking; was a great soccer goalie; and even parachuted out of a plane on his 40th birthday. Chris was married to his sweetheart and soulmate, Susan Hargrove Hutchinson, for 13 precious years. Chris was an avid Marvel Comics and Star Wars fan. He could win any trivia game and was a computer whiz. Chris grew up at Central Baptist Bearden and a was a beloved member of Concord United Methodist Church. Over the years, Chris was a loving dog Dad to Daisy, Simon, Bear, Aurora, Caesar, Silver and Margeaux, all true family members. Chris was predeceased by grandparents Verell and Marjorie Hooker, Mamie and Julius Hutchinson. Survivors include loving and devoted wife, Susan Hargrove Hutchinson, of Knoxville; proud and loving parents, Don and Beverly Hutchinson, of Knoxville; dear sister, Julie Hutchinson Rauen, brother in law, Chris Rauen, and nephews Ben and Lake Rauen ,of Floyds Knobs, IN; father and mother in law, Les and Carla Hargrove of Knoxville; brother in law Chris Hargrove, of Asheville, NC; sister in law, Elisabeth Hargrove, of Durham, NC; niece Dana Louise Palmer, of Durham, NC; two aunts, Regina Prewett and Jill Westmoreland, one uncle, Ricky Hooker, and a large and loving family of cousins in Mississippi. A service of remembrance and celebration of his life will be held at 7pm on Friday, July 14th at Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane Dr, Knoxville, TN 37934. Receiving of friends will begin at 6 pm. The Reverend Glenna Manning will officiate. Those who wish to remember Chris in a special way may make gifts in his name to Adopt a Golden Knoxville, Young Williams Animal Center or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
