David Goodman White

David Goodman White was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on November 26, 1984, the first son and youngest child to parents Susan Nancy White and Roy Goodman White. David was active in Boy Scout Troop 43 throughout his childhood, earning his Eagle Scout following a cherished trip to Philmont Scout Ranch. He also performed with Tuscaloosa Children’s Theatre during his childhood. David graduated from Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa where he played tennis and was also involved in theatre. He attended the University of Tennessee and lived in Knoxville, Tennessee for most of his adulthood. David was an incredible chef who cooked professionally in Knoxville. He also loved music and was a gifted guitarist who mastered his gift by studying and playing his favorite songs from Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, The Beatles, Phish, and many others. David was the kindest and most gentle soul, cherished by anyone who had the honor of knowing him. He will be forever missed by every single person blessed by his beautiful spirit. He would want us to celebrate his life by showing love and kindness to one another as he did every day of his precious time with us. David has climbed his own Stairway to Heaven, and we will rejoice in the day that we can meet him there. He is survived by his loving mother Susan White Driskell, his beloved stepfather Boyce Driskell, his adoring sisters Laura Suzanne White Farmer (Eric) of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, Joanne Erica White Wilson (Terry) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and his much-loved stepbrother Nathan (Lynne) Driskell of Lexington, North Carolina. David is also survived by his nephew Jonah Chase Wilson of Knoxville, Tennessee, and his nieces Abigail Suzanne Farmer, and Alexandra Sidney Farmer of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, and niece Addalynn Elizabeth Driskell of Lexington, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his father Roy Goodman White who is survived by Connie White, David’s stepmother. Our family invites you to join us in honoring David’s life on Saturday, March 4th at 2pm, in the memorial garden at Saint James Episcopal Church, 1101 North Broadway, Knoxville, Tennessee. David’s compassion, love, and empathy for others were exemplified in his daily acts of kindness not only for his loved ones but to anyone he encountered in need.
