David Kraig Worden

David Kraig Worden passed away at home on February 22, 2018. He was born on January 26, 1958 in Houston, TX to Tom and Betty Worden and raised in the Catholic faith. He moved to Tennessee with his parents in 1967. Kraig was a 1977 graduate of Bearden High School and a 1990 graduate of the College of Applied Technology, Knoxville, TN as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.). Kraig worked in his early years in specialty apparel retail and then 25 years as a C.N.A. in local nursing homes, where he received numerous awards of excellence in resident care including the prestigious 2012 Caring Hearts Award presented by Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc. He deeply loved his family, circle of friends, two pet beagle dogs, Cades cove and its history, historic Knoxville and travel. Kraig’s great pride was his home, which he kept in meticulous condition as he did his cars and trucks. Kraig was meticulous in every detail and activity in his life and ever caring and helpful to all people. He shared his mother’s love of family gatherings, art and the Smoky Mountains. He shared his father’s interest in architecture, and greatly assisted in the renovation of a very old family cabin on John’s Creek in the Cherokee National Forest. The family spent many wonderful days at the old cabin, which also had a small and beautiful lake for fishing and boating. He often shared lively discussions of family history, old photos and humorous times with his three sisters. He was preceded in death by his loving Grandparents, Erle and Opal Worden and Joe and Bertha Anhaiser both of Houston, TX. Kraig is survived by his parent’s, Tom and Betty Worden and sister’s Senea Worden and husband Larry Feezel, Stephanie and husband Bob Ferrand, and Karen Worthy, and nephew’s Jim Houser and wife Meagan, Sam Worthy and wife Kate Kishel, Christopher Ferrand and wife Emily, and niece’s Lauren and husband Derek Hancock, and Sydney Ferrand, good and longtime friends Jason Lee, Judy and Morton Gardner, Sandra Kennedy and many others. The family will have a private celebration of Kraig’s life. Memorial donations are welcomed in Kraig’s name to the Young Williams Animal Shelter, 3201 Division Street, Knoxville, TN 37919.
