Dorothy D. Barbour

Dotty Barbour, age 91, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2021 at home with family by her side. Dotty blessed us with a long and beautiful life filled with love. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Jesse Drake. Dotty grew up in Island Home and attended South Knoxville Junior High and Knoxville High School. She attended the University of Tennessee until she married Cliff Barbour in 1950. She was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church throughout her lifetime. Dotty devoted her life to her family, church, friends, and community. Dotty enjoyed time well-spent with her cherished friends in Sewing Club, Fork and Foam, and Cherokee Hills Garden Club. Dotty’s love of baking combined with her entrepreneurial and gracious spirit resulted in work outside the home. She found joy baking and sharing her gourmet chocolate liqueur “Dotty B. Desserts.” Later in life, Dotty enjoyed being the event planner for Crescent Bend House and Gardens where she played a significant role for couples planning their wedding day. Dotty Barbour was preceded in death by her siblings, Dr. David Drake, Ann Kerr, Charles Drake; and former husband Cliff Barbour, Jr. She is survived by her children Clifford Barbour (Clare), David Barbour (Susie), Stephen Barbour, Philip Barbour (Pam), Douglas Barbour, and Laura Barbour (Ty); three grandchildren, Ben Barbour (Laurel), Adrienne May (Kyle) and Grant Barbour; three great grandchildren; nieces and nephew. The family will hold a private graveside service officiated by Pastor Tim Reynolds. Rose Funeral and Cremation - Mann will be open for visitation on April 15 and 16. The family will receive friends at Mann's on April 16 from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Presbyterian Church Pastor Discretionary Fund, 2829 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, or Second Harvest.
