Dorothy Ann Midgett Ingram

Dorothy Ann Midgett Ingram was born at home, October 17, 1935 in Lebanon, Tennessee to William Dayton Midgett and Annie Gertrude Hall Midgett. She was nicknamed “Pet” as the youngest of eight children. In her young adult years, she worked at the Robertshaw Clock Factory in Lebanon, Tennessee, she spent time traveling all around to places like Mexico and the Bahamas with her older sister, Sadie Laverne, and proudly bowling on a ladies’ team. On July 7, 1964 Dorothy Ann married Wade Hill Ingram (World War II Veteran) of Lebanon, Tennessee. In 1967, they relocated to East Tennessee for Wade’s career with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. They resided in Knoxville, Tennessee, and there they had their two children, Katie Ann Ingram-Willard and Kenneth Wade Ingram. After retirement, Dorothy and Wade spent their time raising their children, visiting family in Middle Tennessee, and beekeeping together for over thirty years. In her later years, Dorothy found joy in spending time with her grandchildren, whom she was affectionately known as "Mamie". At least one grandchild could be found at her home with her most days, where she baked cookies and cakes, sewed, crocheted, tended to her many plants in her sunroom, made her well-known pot roasts, coconut pies with meringue, divinity, and fudge all while listening to the sounds of country music. Mamie will be remembered for the love she poured into each of them, her southern hospitality, and her wonderful sense of humor. Dorothy passed peacefully on December 8, 2024. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Wade Hill Ingram, her parents, and seven siblings. Dorothy is survived by her two children; Katie Ann Ingram-Willard (James E. Willard IV) and Kenneth Wade Ingram (Shelley Rutherford) and three stepchildren; Jenny Ingram White (late Robert White), Wayne Hill Ingram (Lisa Ingram), and Helen Ingram Payne (Tommy Payne) and grandchildren; Addison “Addie” Kate Willard, Garrett Joseph Willard, Mae Ling Willard, Phillip Wade Ingram, Kensley Renee Ingram, Heather White Tanner, Robert Neil White Jr., Jacob Marshall Ingram, Calvin Tyler Ingram, and Anna Grace Weissinger, several great grandchildren, and nephew Charles Thomas Skeen (Sharon Skeen) and niece Reverend Laurie Midgett Raulston (Mark Raulston). In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Island Home Park Health and Rehab for resident activities and in appreciation to their wonderful directors, nurses, and staff that cared for and comforted Dorothy. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:30 - 5:30 pm at Rose Funeral and Cremation - Mann. A memorial service will follow at 5:30. Family and friends will then gather on Friday at 12:45 pm for at 1:00 pm inurnment service at East Tennessee State Veterans' Cemetery on Lyons View.
