Dorothy Nadine Wright

Dorothy Nadine (Jarnigan) Wright, 77, of Knoxville, TN gained her wings on May 19, 2024. Born September 26, 1946, Dorothy, or Dot, Mom or Mamaw as some knew her, was one of several children in a very large family, and she loved them all fiercely. She was the glue for a lot of them. For several years she would always arrange a family reunion for her birthday gathering just so she could have everyone together in one place. She met her husband, Bill, in 1962, they married in 1963 and had two beautiful children together. With time, she went on to love 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren as if they were her own. She was so proud of her babies and showed them off every chance she could. She worked hard at everything she had ever done. She retired from the Levi's Strauss Factory when they closed their doors, and made several memories and life long friendships along the way. She loved taking photos, taking care of her dog, planting beautiful flowers, country music, concerts, and shopping. Her laugh was infectious and her smile could light up a room. If you knew Dorothy, you knew love. She had the biggest heart of anyone you will have ever met. Whether you needed a bed at her house, a warm home cooked meal, someone to cry with, or someone to take care of you until your time came, she was there. Her people were the most important thing to her in the entire world and she made sure they knew it. A lot of us will be lost without her. Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary Laverne and Charles E. Jarnigan. Her husband of 57 years, James (Bill) William Wright, Sr. Her brothers, Walter Jarnigan, Raymond Jarnigan, Bill Jarnigan, Tommy Jarnigan, and Eddie Jarnigan. Her sisters Patricia Ann Jarnigan and Mary Lunsford. She is survived by her daughter, Shelia Deering, her son, Billy (Jill) Wright. Her grandchildren: Michelle (Cedric) Roach, Cassie (Nick) Cauley, Mark (Brittney) Landon, Shelby Wright & Ethan Wright. Her great grandchildren: CJ, Elijah, and Olivia Roach, Laci, Kaeson, and Kollyns Landon, and Clementine and Callisto Cauley. Her siblings: Charlie Jarnigan, Woody (Linda) Jarnigan, Edith Meadows, and Ruby Hatcher. Special Friends: Francis Williams, Pat McMurray and her most loyal pup Rio and cat Trinity. The Receiving of Family and Friends will be held from 2-4:00 pm Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Rose Funeral & Cremation-Broadway. A funeral service will follow with speaker Mr. James Wright.
