TAYLOR, ELSIE WILLIE MAE LEE - age 87, began rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Born on October 8, 1926, in Reliance, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Reverend William LaFayette Lee and Martha (Mattie) Forrester Lee. Preceded in death by her husband of nearly sixty years, William Lonas Taylor, Jr.; father and mother-in-law, William L. and Flossie B. Taylor; daughter-in-law, Gail Keener Taylor; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Paul Summers, Mayme (Totsie) and Frank Keck; brothers, Waymon Elton (W.E.) Lee, Noah Columbus (N.C.) Lee; brothers and sister-in-laws, Riley Leonard (R.L.) And Beulah Lee; brothers-in-law, Rev. Arthur Rucker, Fred Messamore and Charles Stanfill; sisters-in-law, Patsy Lee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray Taylor, Paul and Beverly Taylor, Roy and Irene Taylor, Richard and Lavern Taylor; sister and brother-in-Law, Lucille and Delmar Pittman. Survived by sisters, Lennie Messamore and Essie Stanfill, both of Knoxville, Della Rucker, Copperhill, TN; brother, James Waymon (J.W.) Lee, Calhoun, TN; sister-in-law, Pauline Taylor; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Larry Watkins, Dyersburg, Karen and Charles Hickey, Gina and Dan Hundley; son, William L. Taylor III; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Leslie Taylor, all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jeff and Sarah Watkins, Andrew and Suzy Watkins, Charlie and Stephanie Hickey, Joshua Hickey, Robin and Brent Omastiak, Rebekah and Henry Jones, Rachel and Kyle Vandegrift, Grayson Taylor, Victoria Yardley, and Taylor Yardley; twelve great grandchildren; special daughters, Cindy Brassfield, Debbie Taylor, Lynn Allison Chyrel Sims, and Linda Downey. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden. The family would like to thank the staff at Manor House Assisted Living, especially Kipp and Johnny. as well as the entire staff at Atria Weston Place, especially, "Lisa Marie". After an appropriate mourning period, you may elect the next 'Queen'. Funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014, Central Baptist Church of Bearden with the Rev. Chandler Vinson officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church of Bearden. Interment will be 9:30 a.m.. on Friday, June 27, 2014, at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Mom's gift was caring for her husband and family of five children, grandchildren, and a multitude of children who just happened to be near her kitchen during meal time, neighbors, dogs, cats, goats and ponies. She came to Knoxville by train, was employed at Standard Knitting Mills before eloping with her husband Bill. She enjoyed bowling, playing 'Rook', baking, making baby quilts for every newborn child in East Tennessee, and laughing. Even through the pain at the end, her wit endured. Never one to back down from a challenge or quit before seeing it through, the life on the farm never left the girl. With unending love and gratitude, it's time for you to rest Mom.
