Eric V. Patterson

Patterson, Eric V.- age 77, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was born in Goodsprings, Tennessee on June 1, 1934. Eric loved sports excelling at softball, was an avid golfer, and a former TSSAA football official. He was an avid "Big Orange" fan, working with the Big Orange athletic events as late as the summer of 2011. The Patterson family lived a block from Tennessee's Neyland Stadium during the early to mid 1950's until he and his young family moved to the countryside. Eric was an engineer by trade and worked in heavy equipment manufacturing for years in Knoxville and England. He was in the final class that attended old Knoxville High School downtown, and was in the first class at East High School, graduating in the first year of its existence. Eric was always available for all those around him starting with his father, mother, brothers, sisters, and on to his children and grandchildren. He was always willing and able to help those in need all of his life. Preceded in death by father, Frank V. Patterson ; mother, Ruth Webb Patterson; brother, Ronald W. Patterson. Leaves behind sister, Jo P Owens and husband Dennis; brother, Kenyon L. Patterson and wife Vicki. Survived by children and spouses, Lawrence V. Patterson, Marcee and Greg Mathews, Donald Rhea and Jill Patterson, and Steven Patterson; grandchildren, Justin, Whitney, Larah, Erika, Julia, Shelby, Jonah, Zane, and Zack; great-granddaughter, Ave Grace Ramage (born August 23, 2011, of whom he saw thru pictures before he died). Many nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Carolyn A. Patterson; and loving and faithful friend, Lexus. The family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for 11:00 am graveside services with Rev. Lucky Steele and Rev. Gene Hurley officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, August 26, 2011, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at City View Baptist Church.
