Mr. Everett LeRoy Emery III

Emery, Everett L., III (Roy) went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2014. He was 64 years old. Born in Anniston, Alabama, Roy lived most of his life in Knoxville. A graduate of Webb School and the University of Tennessee School of Architecture, Roy was an expert craftsman with an imaginative eye for design. He spent his entire career in the design-build industry and worked for many years with partner Rob Gambuzza. Roy spent time on the things in life that mattered most to him, serving the Lord and being with his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Cindy Bass, who was the love of his life. Roy was a devoted father to his daughter, Lea, and developed a special bond with his son-in-law, Jeremy. Roy was grateful for the time he spent with his family, fly fishing, canoeing and just being together. A devout student of the Bible, Roy was known for his thought-provoking questions and ability to spark lively spiritual discussions. He enjoyed meeting every week for 20 years with fellow members of a Bible study group. Roy treasured the community of people he knew through Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church. An active member, Roy served as a deacon and worshiped with the same Sunday school class for many years. Preceded in death by his parents Madonna Gibson Emery and Roy Emery, Jr. Survived by his wife, Cindy Bass Emery, daughter Lea Emery Wampler and son-in-law, Jeremy Wampler; sisters Susie Emery Deyo and husband, Bill; Kim Emery Pouncey and husband, Steve; and brother, Ron Emery; mother-in-law, Lois Bass (Gamma); sister-in-law, Peggy Bass Bridges and husband, Joey; brother-in-law, Richard Bass and wife Gina; nieces Brittany Bass; Becca Bass; Emery Deyo Bourne, husband, Bray and children Deyo and Mills; Tyler Deyo Israel, husband, Justin and children Maddox, Zane and Ledger. Roy left this life the way he lived it, as an optimist with insatiable curiosity, devoted to his family and with a steadfast love of the Lord. The family would like to thank the staff of Thompson Cancer Center for their extraordinary care and compassion. A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church with Dr. L. Holton Siegling officiating.
