Harry "Skeets" David Wade, Jr.

Harry “Skeets” David Wade, Jr., age 82, passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife by his side, on their 60th wedding anniversary, June 15th 2023. Harry was a graduate from Georgia Technological Institute in 1963 and he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served in the Army and the Army Reserves. Harry was a mechanical engineer and owned a company until his retirement in 2013. Harry was an active golfer and tennis player in his younger years. Harry’s faith was very important to him. He was an active member of Good Shephard Episcopal Church in Fountain City and served on their vestry. He was passionate about generosity and active in many charities. Most recently he has given his time and energy to Agape Outreach Homes, FISH Food Panties, Scarecrow, Step Up Ministries, and he served on the board of directors for The Mental Health Association of East Tennessee. Harry had a great sparkle in his eyes. He was known for his sharp wit, wonderful sense of humor, his genuine interest in getting to know and connect with those he met. He loved to hear your story and get to know about you. He was as good of a listener as he was delivering one-liners with perfect comedic timing. Harry was known for his generosity. He loved to give and give deeply and passionately. After his retirement he still got up every day and went to the office to do his daily “do-gooder” work, as he called it. We hope Harry we will remembered for these attributes. Harry was preceded in death his son, Harry David Wade, III. He is survived by his loving wife Janice Wade; his daughters, Laura Pantoja (Wade) and Ashley Wade; his sons-in-law, Michael Pantoja (Laura) and Mark Felthoff (Ashley); daughter-in-law, Christine Hassil Wade; his grandsons, Caleb Wade and Harrison Wade; and his loving sister, Marilyn Famer. He will also be remembered with great affection by many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. A celebration of life service will be held at Good Shephard Episcopal Church in 5409 Jacksboro Pike Knoxville, TN 37918 on July 22th at 3pm.
