Hu-ed Sharp

Sharp, Hu-Ed, age 76 of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, April 15th, 2024. A proud son of Fountain City, he graduated from Central High School in 1966 before enlisting in the United States Coast Guard, where he served from 1967 to 1971. He attended the University of Tennessee where he received a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science upon graduating in 1976. He served as a Knox County Commissioner and as a member and deacon at Fairmont Presbyterian Church. An entrepreneur from birth, he started numerous businesses over his career before finding his calling as Realtor, successfully serving the greater Knoxville area for over 20 years. Like his unique name, Hu-Ed was truly one of a kind. You could often find him in the Smoky Mountains cooking by his camper, bourbon in hand, spending time with his companion, Becky, his two daughters, his four grandsons, and his dogs Lucy & Poppy. He loved a good cookout and watching the Vols. While often bullheaded to a fault, all who knew him found him charismatic, loving, and generous. He would give anyone the shirt off his back, and many considered him something of a second father. His mischievous grin and the gleam in his sky-blue eyes gave hint to his wry sense of humor. To know him was to love him. After his stubborn refusal to succumb to his battle with cancer, he gave his family a final assurance that he had found peace. He was preceded in death by his parents, Durward O. Sharp and Helen Virginia Saylor Sharp, and nephew Marcos E. Lopez. He is survived by his longtime, loving companion, Becky Ward; brother John D. Sharp (Diane Sharp); sister Carole Lopez; daughters Brooke Sharp Black (Shane Black) and Shelly Sharp Bearden (Rob Bearden), grandsons Cayden Black, Brooks Bearden, Fisher Bearden, and Charlie Bearden, nieces Beth Sharp and Debbie Sharp, nephew Eric Lopez, and a host of great-nephews and great-nieces. A special thanks to UT Hospice and the caring staff and loving nurses at Deane Hill Place. Pallbearers (Active and Honorary): John Sharp, Cayden Black, Brooks Bearden, Fisher Bearden, Shane Black, Rob Bearden, Eric Lopez, Alex Sharp, Charlie Bearden (Honorary), Cole Lopez (Honorary).
