James Michael Strong

Strong, James Michael 28, of Chicago, Ill. was born on August 19, 1982 in San Diego, CA, passed away in his home on January 11, 2011. Jimmy graduated from Holy Cross College, South Bend, IN in the winter of 2009. Jimmy had many passions in life, including cooking, writing, reading, listening to music, and spending time with his family and friends - and most excitedly, Notre Dame Football. He found his happiness in the small things in life. He never needed or asked for much, but instead found his joy in such things as preparing beautiful, delicious meals for his loved ones, and watching their satisfied grins as they feasted on his unique creations. Recently, Jimmy found himself involved in producing theatre work with some of his closest friends, and his excitement about this project emanated from his every pore. Jimmy is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, “Papa,” James Kane, Aunt Leslie Kane, and his cousin Augustine Strong. Upon his entrance into eternal life, Jimmy leaves behind his father Joseph Matthew; his mother Eileen Kane; his brothers Joseph Richard, Thomas Matthew, Stephen Solanus, and Michael Sebastian; his sisters Julia Anne, Tara Marie, Mary-Frances Lucia, Angela Michelle and Anna Hardon; his paternal grandparents Bill and Jane Strong; and maternal grandmother Phyillis Kane; as well as hundreds of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm Sunday Jan. 16th at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with a Rosary at 8:00 pm. A Mass to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be 10:00 A.M. Monday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church followed by a brief graveside service at Calvary Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome.
