Jane Dore Yancey

YANCEY, JANE DORE - passed away Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Mary's (Mercy) Medical Center, Knoxville, Tennessee. She was born March 1, 1928 in Knoxville, the daughter of Paul and Lorene Dore of Holston Hills. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Paul Dore, husband, Joseph B. Yancey and daughter, Beth Yancey. She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Lam and husband, Don of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Amy Broome and husband, Bill of Knoxville; and son, Bartlette Yancey of Knoxville; grandchildren, Rhys Lam and wife, Jessica of Louisville, KY, Andy Broome and wife, Cameron of Knoxville, Hayes Jessup and husband, Todd of Charleston, SC, Jeff Broome and wife, Danielle of Knoxville, Megan Cantrell and husband, Scott of Knoxville and Cally Broome of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Alice and Nora Lam of Louisville, KY. Jane will be remembered for her active participation in Delta Delta Delta Sorority (UT-Knoxville), her fancy footwork in The Golden Cloggers, deep love of friends in her life- long bridge club, Knoxville High School Class of 1946 and her passion for gardening, wildflowers, birds and Smoky Mountain hikes. She was also a steadfast member at Erin Presbyterian Church in The Connections Sunday School class, Breadbreakers, Body Recall and handbell players, "Joyful Sounds". Jane leaves a legacy of love of family and lived by example with joy and dignity and no one ever doubted her love. She will be forever remembered for good times and laughter at the lake surrounded by friends, family and beloved pets. We begin a new chapter now, mourning her passage and celebrating eight-plus decades of lessons learned.
