Mrs Janet Cooper Franklin

Janet Cooper Franklin entered the gates of heaven on February 17 from Sacred Ground Hospice. Her family surrounded her singing, "And when I stand before the throne, I stand in Him complete, 'Jesus died my soul to save,' my lips shall still repeat. Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin has left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow." As the song was lifted, Janet Franklin joined her Savior with her beautiful smile and hospitable, welcoming personality. We know she is dancing and celebrating! She lived life well - with intention and purpose. Janet enjoyed 56 years of marriage to the love of her life, Robbie Franklin. Their years of life together in all life moments are a testimony of the sacrificial requirements of a beautiful, lasting marriage. Laughter always blessed them even in the tears. She mothered her three daughters with love and care her entire life, Robin Beebe, Wendy Kuhn and Kelly Tate. Each daughter knew her care, concern, and nurturing in every celebratory, but also grieving moments, in their own lives as well. All of her 14 grandchildren, with 13 of them being boys and one princess, will be forever impacted by her life - carrying on with steadfastness the way she taught them to live. Their Grandmama Janet could make them do things they would otherwise never do. She had the gift of influence desiring them to be all the Lord created them to be. Janet served children in the Knox County school system as a teacher, Title One Reading Specialist, Assistant Principal and Principal. She taught Sunday School for years at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, Pleasant Hill UMC and Washington Pike UMC. She lived a life of servanthood, placing the needs of others first. Her favorite position was with a child on her lap reading a book! Her favorite moments were seeing family and friends enjoying the riverside with splashing and laughter! Her favorite saying, that she would be saying to all of us, is "Let your light shine." Let the light of Christ be shining from you as a light for others for the hope beyond this world. It is all for Him we truly live. Janet leaves a beautiful legacy of a life lived with eternal vision. Celebration of Life Service to be held at Washington Pike United Methodist Church, 2241 Washington Pike, Knoxville, TN at 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 20. The service will be live-streamed for anyone unable to attend (call washington pike UMC for stream details). The family will visit with everyone after the service.
