Obituary for Janet Klein Janet Klein, 94, of Mason City, Iowa, & Knoxville, TN, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 30th after a short illness. Janet was a loving, devoted wife, cherished mother, beloved grandmother, and faithful friend to many. Janet was born on 10-20-30, the daughter of Sophie & Elmer Berg and the granddaughter of two sets of Norwegian immigrants. She grew up on a farm outside of Lake Mills, Iowa. Janet married the love of her life, Lloyd Klein, on January 29, 1950, and moved to Mason City, Iowa where she lived for 72 years. Janet’s life could be summed up as a life of love, gratitude, and service to others. She felt the most joy when she was talking to a friend or family member, helping them, or cooking for them. Janet loved sharing vegetables from her garden, preparing a yummy comfort food meal, or being by the side of a friend. For Janet, “the coffee pot was always on,” and she always insisted on giving you something to eat. Janet spent her last two wonderful years in Knoxville at Northshore Assisted Living where she could see her family every day. She was living her best life with her new friends and a kind staff and was the unofficial bingo/activities queen. Janet loved sports, especially Caitlin Clark, and became an instant UT fan in football, basketball, and baseball. Janet is survived by her daughter Nancy Klein Maland, her son-in-law Chuck, her adored grandson JT, her nephews Mike Quinn (Karen) & Mark Brackey (Barb), her nieces Carole Summers & Alanna Prohaska, her brother-in-law Claire Brackey, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, her parents, her brother, Allen, her sister Phyllis, and her infant daughter, Sue Ellen. A Celebration of Her Beautiful Life will be held on February 12, 2025, at 11:00 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 544 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN. The service will be live streamed from the St. John’s Lutheran Knoxville Facebook page and the St. John’s Lutheran Knoxville YouTube channel and will be archived at those sites for later viewing. A reception for the family and friends in the Sparks Fellowship Hall will follow the service.
