Jimmy B. Maner

He was born February 23, 1947, to Charles and Maude Maner. He grew up in Knoxville TN, graduating from Carter High School in 1965. He then attended the University of Tennessee, earning a degree in accounting and later practiced as a certified public accountant. He was married to the love of his life, Valorie Maner, for 47 years. Jim served in the United States Army and bravely fought in the Vietnam War where he earned a Bronze Star with an Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a member of First Baptist Concord and a part of the active Galloway-Poole Sunday School Class. He enjoyed breakfast every Monday with his ROMEO bible study group. In Jim’s volunteer spirit he was involved in Disaster Relief, ARISE2READ, chainsaw ministry, rebuild Roane County, CQ construction, mission trips, and so much more. He was an amazing grandfather and volunteered in each grandchild’s class at church totaling 17 years in preschool ministry. He talked many times about how his volunteer work shaped who he was. He had a dry sense of humor and a quiet spirit. He loved to read and was full of useless facts that would entertain you. As he grew older so did his love and faith in the Lord. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Valorie Maner and two daughters Leanna (Mark) Lefler and Monica (Chris) Evans. He adored his four grandchildren Callie Lefler, Kenzie Lefler, Cade Evans, and Zach Evans. He is also survived by special brother in-law and sister in-law Martin and Charlotte DeLozier; nieces and nephew Ashley Garren, Brooke Maner, Chip Maner. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Maude Maner and his brother Charlie Maner. He was blessed with a loving large extended family. The family will celebrate a life well lived on May 22, 2023, with receiving of friends from 5:00 -7:00 pm followed by the service at 7:00 pm at First Baptist Concord 11704 Kingston Pike, Knoxville TN 37934. To honor the preschoolers that Jim worked with for 17 years, who are now a part of Concord Student Ministry, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Summer Camp Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Concord.
