Joan Seagraves Fleming Seider

Joan Seagraves Fleming Seider - affectionately known as Joanie, Mom, and Grand-mommy, age 87, passed away April 4, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family. She is now standing in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom she first placed her trust in at the age of 12. Joan was born on May 2, 1937, in Linden, TN. As a youth, she was actively involved in her church and in the Girl Scouts. After graduating from Fulton High School in Knoxville, she married her husband Bill, who joined the navy and were then stationed in Kodiak Alaska, returning to Knoxville before the birth of their first child. Joan devoted her life to God and children, serving in the nursery at church, singing in the church choir, working with disabled children, mentoring troubled youth, all while raising 7 children. She embodied strength, virtue, and sacrificial love, with her faith and character being a great influence in shaping young minds and building the young lives that God entrusted to her call. She was beautiful, fierce, protective, fun loving, and smart. She enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping, UT sports, raising German Shepherds, Quarter Horses, and goats. We will miss her energetic spirit and her big, beautiful smile. Memories will sustain us and be passed along describing a life that was "Well Lived". Joan was preceded in death by her parents Ewin M. Seagraves and Nancy May Beasley, her husband Bill C. Fleming, and her husband Gene Seider, her brother M. Dewayne Seagraves, her sister Judith Ann S. Burton, and her son Beau G.S. Fleming. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Jan and Jim Leath, her brother and sister-in-law Mike and Susan Seagraves, her children Russ A. Fleming, Kim F. Meek and husband Bucky, R. Scott Fleming and wife Sybille, Kathy F. Hatcher and husband Ron, B.J. Fleming, Buck Fleming and wife Abby. Grandchildren, Trey Meek, Garrett Meek, Houston Meek, Meagan F. Keyes, Peyton Fleming, KaiVi Peng, Kylie Fleming, and MacKinzey Fleming, and seventeen great grandchildren. The family wishes to give a special thanks to her caregiver Kathy Bunch, for her unwavering dedication and heartfelt devotion, sharing in her care. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Rose Funeral & Cremation Broadway. Family and friends will meet at 10:45am Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside service with Pastor Mike Petty and Pastor Trey Meek officiating.
