Jody Garrett

Jody Rae Garrett (Reifschneider), age 70 of Knoxville, TN, died at home in the comfort of her daughter's arms at 4:15 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. She was a resident of Trustwell Senior Living off Northshore since November of 2021. She had several concurrent life-threatening illnesses that she had been battling for several years and her body became too weak to continue. She is in the hands of her Heavenly Father now, fully healed, restored, and at peace. Jody was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin to Edwin Reifschneider and Valerie Reifschneider (Peckham) on July 2, 1952. She graduated from beauty school in 1979 and retired from hairdressing after 25 years. She served as a lunch lady for Cedar Bluff Schools from 1992-1995. Jody was a leader for the Milwaukee and Knoxville TOPS chapters, a nationally recognized weight loss program where she helped facilitate group meetings for individuals on a weight loss journey as well as an active member of the Knoxville ZUMBA community. Jody loved to play games, including board games, card games, and leisure games. She and her husband were very involved in bowling, and billiards, and spent 15 years playing in dart leagues around Knoxville. In the latter years, she became an avid poker player and is known around town as “Ms. Kitty” from the K-Town Poker League. This sweet, sassy, spunky, fun-loving lady is known and loved by many in the Knoxville community and will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Garrett; parents, Edwin and Valerie Reifschneider; brother, Kurt Reifschneider; sister, Renee Behmke; and stepson, Thomas Garrett. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her only biological daughter, Kayleen Weaver and her husband Adam Weaver and grandchildren, Adalyn Weaver and Garrett Weaver. She is also survived by her brother, Mark Reifschneider; step-son, Frank Garrett; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 26th from 6:00-8:00pm at Rose Funeral & Cremation – Mann (6200 Kingston Pike). Family and friends will gather for a Graveside Service at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919) on Thursday, June 1st at 1:00pm.
