June Davis

June Davis, age 81 years of Knoxville, Tennessee has gone to be with the Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 23rd, 2018. June was born to the late Elmer and Georgia Bowles. June was preceded in death by her loving husband of over sixty years, Joe Davis. June was also preceded in death by her beautiful daughter, Thea Lynn Davis Cooper; her loving brothers, Foy and Phil Bowles; her great-grandson Isaiah; as well as her fun-loving friends Tommy Haun and Swans Huffaker. June was a US Army Airborne military wife during the Korean War. During her life she owned several businesses. One she adored was her first florist, Sheryl Lynn Florist and other small stores throughout her lifetime. June was a homemaker, an avid reader of books, her most beloved was her Bible. June could be seen each morning sitting on her front porch reading her Bible and making notes for her children. Family summers were spent in Townsend Tennessee at the family cabin surrounded with family and friends. June and Joe traveled to many churches throughout their life preaching the word of God. The home was filled with music from herself taught southern gospel tone on her piano while Joe played his guitar. She played while her husband Jodie and the kids would sing songs. Writing song and singing was the favorite most cherished past time in the home. June loved and cherished her nine children, Joe Davis (Amy), Sheryl Johnson, Janet Chambers (Terry), Tracy Lowe (Brian), Lisa Perkins, Lorrie McCullough (Lawrence), Jed Davis (Nicole), Matt Davis (Sharon). June had 18 grandchildren that she utterly adored with all of her heart, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, brother William Bowles; sisters Imogene Chandler, Helen Diggs, and Kaye Hodge. June has been waiting to see Joe again at the North Gates of Heaven. That is where he told her they would meet. Thea Lynn will be the keeper of the door. They’ll be no more “waiting on June” for Joe. The words of the song he wrote for his wife over forty years ago ring in our hearts today. “Leave the North gate open for I am coming home”. She’s there Daddy. Until we all see you both again we love you and will miss you every day of our lives spent without you. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm Monday, August 27, 2018 at ROSE MORTUARY BROADWAY CHAPEL. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Beecher Whitehead officiating.
