Katherine Marie Brabson

Katherine Marie Brabson age 93 of Knoxville Tn. Passed away early Monday morning August 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by Paul Hasson Brabson, her husband of 50 years and Alan R. Brabson Jr. a loving Grandson. She is survived by sons, Dr. Leonard A. Brabson M.D. ( Gail Brabson R.N.) and Alan R. Brabson ( Mary Elizabeth Brabson) all of Knoxville Tennessee. Her surviving Grandchildren are Adam Douglas Brabson, Amanda Megan Brabson Paletz, Bryant Herron Brabson, Frederick Martin Brabson, Jami Gail Brabson Weldon, Leonard A. Brabson Jr., and Samual Aaron Brabson. Additionally, she is survived by many loving Great Grandchildren. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1929 and moved to Knoxville during World War II where her father was involved in building the “Secret City” of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School and soon afterwards married. She and her husband worked to together to build a series of successful family businesses. They became long time members of Church Stre et United Methodist Church and were deeply involved within the Church community. Her personal activities were membership within the United Methodist Women’s Group, Ossoli Circle, Akima Club, and seasonal supporter of the Knoxville Symphony. She enjoyed time with her Church Travel Group where she made many trips around the world to include the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany, Italy for art museums, and transited the Panama Canal. She moved into the Arbor Terrace Assisted Living Community and enjoyed a casual lifestyle surrounded by many old and new friends. Her health began to fail in November of 2022; however, she was lovingly cared for by the Nursing Staff at the Tennova North Women’s Center. She then returned to Arbor Terrace with around the clock care under the direction of her daughter in law, Gail Brabson RN, who became her private duty nurse and directed in house medical care, coordinated with Senior Helpers, and the Arbor Terrace staff. Deep appreciation is given to the loving family of caregivers from Senior Helpers, Wanda, Kelley, Chauntel, Dezerae, Bobbi, and Patience. Additionally, we would like to thank the nursing staff of Tennova North Birth Center and the Nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice. She was a generous, kind, and loving mother and Grandmother and a classy lady who enjoyed dancing with her husband. She can now dance in the streets of heaven with the love of her life. A celebration of life will be held later. Donations in her memory may be made to the United Methodist Women at Church Street United Methodist Church or Young-Williams Animal Center.
