Kathryn Swann Jaffurs

Kathryn Swann Brown Jaffurs passed away peacefully Sunday, November 26, 2023. She was a Knoxville native born February 12, 1953 to the late Stanley Porter Brown Jr. and Kathryn Ann “Katty” Morris Brown. She married Christopher Mark Jaffurs at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church on Kingston Pike on November 27, 1987. Swann graduated from West High School in 1971. She was Key Club Sweetheart and on the Miller’s Fashion Board. Swann graduated from the University of Tennessee in Home Economics in 1976. During her time there, she was a Sigma Alpha Epsilon Little Sister of Minerva. In 1980, she and her mother Katty opened Antiques and Accents-Interiors. They worked together for over 40 years. Swann was raised in First Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, but later transferred membership to Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Chancel Choir for over 25 years and served as Deacon. She was also a Magna Carta Grand Dame. Swann loved horseback riding, traveling with friends and family and working out with friends. She was an excellent tennis player and played for both Cherokee Country Club and USTA teams. Swann leaves her husband Christopher Mark Jaffurs; child, Lauren Jaffurs Hall and husband Michael Szczech Hall, granddaughters Caroline Elizabeth Hall and Eleanor Bailey Hall and brother Stanley Porter Brown III. Other family members include the late Cynthia Moore Whitlow and husband Ron, Susan Moore Gougeon and husband Charles, Aunt Rebecca Brown Hyde, brother-in-law John Jaffurs, wife Sheri Jaffurs, nephew Nicholas Jaffurs, niece Alexis Gibson and husband Jay and their children A.J. and Noah Gibson of Allegan, Michigan. Swann loved Jesus and truly lived out Psalm 95:1 “Sing for joy to the Lord.” Swann will be laid to rest in the columbarium at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church privately. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the sanctuary on Saturday, December 2nd at 1:00pm, with Dr. Jay Howell officiating. A Receiving of Friends will follow.
