Kenyon L Patterson Sr

Kenyon L Patterson Sr, 75, has joined his mother, father and beloved brothers in Heaven. Born to Frank and Ruth Patterson in Knoxville Tennessee, “the Baby" was the youngest of three brothers and one sister, Eric, Ronny and Jo. The family lived on what became the campus of the University of Tennessee and Ken was a lifelong Volunteer. An avid athlete, he was a star at track, football and hockey while attending Knoxville’s West High School. Ken was a gifted musician and played bass guitar professionally before settling on a career in Entertainment Lighting. Known as KP in the lighting world, he was internationally renowned as an authority on all things lighting from the smallest chapels to patenting MOTODATA for Garth Brooks tours. KP shared his love and knowledge broadly, and his works of lighting art can be seen around the region in churches, schools, theaters, and even holiday rooftops in the Knoxville area. An avid boater, Ken's Big Red Boat was well known to everyone on Tellico Lake. He was an active member of City View Baptist Church keeping it beautifully lit and accompanying the worship music with his bass guitar. Ken was a man full of life, brilliant, creative and passionate, he loved with his whole heart. Life with him was one great adventure! Ken is preceded in death by his parents, both brothers, stepdaughter JoAnna Velton, step grandson Justin and his beautiful niece Ronda Hart. He is survived by his wife Vicki and dog Maggie, son Kenyon L Patterson Jr. (Kristina), sister Jo Owens (Dennis), stepchildren Sandy McElhaney (Brian), Kristi Doerr (Ron), Michele Gordon (Tim), David Brewer (April) and Kathy Jeffreys (Scott), grandchildren Laura Alizabeth Patterson, Kenyon Liam Patterson, step grandchildren Paige McPeak (Christina), Hudson and Shelby Doerr, Gabriel and Ashie McElhaney, Michael and Grant (Blair) Gordon, Anderson Brewer, Brandon (Emily) Guin, Bailey (Phil) Schad, Bethany, Bruce (Dallas) and Rachel Guin and Adrian Hewitt, along with 5 of the world’s best great grandchildren, special friend David Magee, an abundance of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, cherished friends and exceptional neighbors. Visitation will be at City View Baptist Church, 2311 Fine Avenue, Knoxville on Saturday, February 1st from 2-4pm with services to follow.
