Kyle Brennan Mooney

Most often clad in orange, the world’s biggest Vols fan was born in Knoxville, TN on May 11, 2012 and unexpectedly passed away at home on November 14, 2024. Kyle Brennan Mooney, also known as, “The Mayor of Rocky Hill,” was loved by everyone and described as having never met a stranger. Kyle and his dad shared a special bond through sports, particularly Tennessee baseball and the Boston Celtics. Kyle and his mom connected over a shared love of music and cherished mother/son dates to many musicals with Hamilton topping the list. He was a doting big, “Bubba” to his younger sister Leah, pledging from the day she was born to, “always take care of her.” Kyle adored his grandparents, creating precious and individual traditions that reflected his relationship with each of them. Kyle was proud to have recently made the Bearden Middle School / West baseball team and was a talented athlete. He was a member of Fellowship Church and enjoyed activities with his Life Group. Kyle was smart and inquisitive, but his most exceptional quality was his kindness towards others. When you were in Kyle’s presence you felt important. If he met you once, he knew everything from your birthday to your dog’s name, pulling up a chair to sit for a spell and get the details of your life story. He was survived by his parents, Brennan and Erica (Dukes) Mooney and sister Leah Lauren Mooney; Grandparents Kevin and Lynne Mooney, Jeanne Dukes and Heiskell Howard, and Rick Dukes; Aunt and Uncle Craig and Heather (Howard) King and cousins Harper, Hayden, and Ashton. He was preceded in death by great grandparents Walter and Maryann Martin, Frank and Regina Mooney, Herman and Lottie Jackson, and Rufus and Martha Dukes. Receiving of friends will be on Monday, November 18th from 4:30pm – 6:00pm with a service to follow at Fellowship Church, 8000 Middlebrook Pike. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made “In Memory of Kyle Mooney” at Fellowship Church (fellowshipknox.tpsdb.com). Attendees are encouraged to dress in representation of one of Kyle’s favorite teams: the Tennessee Vols, the Boston Celtics, and the Chicago Cubs.
