Larry Elmore

Charles Larry Elmore, 70, passed away on March 2, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Larry was a graduate of Tennessee Technology University and dedicated his career to the accounting profession. He joined Pugh CPAs in 1977 and served as President before retiring in 2019. Known for his commitment to excellence and mentorship, he guided countless accountants throughout his tenure. His leadership extended beyond his firm, as he played pivotal roles in the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, and the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy. His contributions helped shape and protect the future of the industry. A devoted community member, Larry was a long-time member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and served on several professional and civic boards. He was also an active participant in the Tennessee Tech accounting advisory roundtable, working to advance the field he loved. Additionally, he served as chairman and board member for Goodwill Industries and was a proud graduate of Leadership Knoxville's Class of 2008. Beyond his professional life, Larry found great joy in spending time with his granddaughters, cheering on Tennessee Athletics-especially football-and taking cherished yearly trips to 30A in Florida. His faith was central to his life; he worshiped at First Baptist Concord Church and previously served as a Deacon at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Elmore; his son, Chad Elmore; and his beloved granddaughters, Blair and Hensley. A receiving of friends will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on March 6, 2025 at Rose Mann Heritage Chapel, followed by a funeral service from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. A graveside service will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the University of Tennessee Medical Center Cancer Institute, which worked tirelessly to help Larry on his journey.
