Lisle Lee Pat Horner

Horner, Lisle Ruby Lee (Pat) – went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Life Care Center in Jefferson City after a six-week stay for a sudden illness. Born March 20, 1920 in Arkansas, she was the oldest of nine brothers and sisters whom she helped raise and dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Horner, her mother and father, Fannie and Willie Richardson of Missouri, brothers, Pete and Thurlo of Missouri, Harold and Henry Richardson of Iowa, Ray Richardson of Washington, and her sister, Gertrude Adams of Colorado. Lisle met and fell in love with her late husband Howard Horner in Washington state where she went for work during World War II. They married and moved to Knoxville where she spent the rest of her life. She devoted her life to caring for others. She cared for her mother-in-law and father-in-law in later years, the late Beulah and James Horner. She was like a second mother to several of her daughter's closest friends, especially Marie Owens of Knoxville whom she dearly loved. Her house was a home to everyone who entered and she always made sure they were comfortable and had good food as well as good times. The lives of everyone she met were touched by her sweet spirit and thoughtfulness. Her friends loved the poetry she recited as well as the stories she shared of her childhood in Arkansas. Her sense of humor was infectious and made people laugh. The joy of the Lord was shown through her face. She is survived by her most beloved daughters, Diana Horner and Connie Jones both of Knoxville; a cherished granddaughter, Cambi Jones whom she raised and shared a special bond. She is also survived by her sister, Louise Johnson of California; brother, Lester Richardson of Missouri; niece and nephew, Violet and Bob Sells of Missouri. She has left many special friends – all of whom she considered to be family. The most special are Mr. Roy and Mrs. Joann Myers of Knoxville. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Life Care Center of Jefferson City. Words cannot express the gratitude for their kindness, expertise, professionalism and wonderful care that Lisle was given in her final days. The staff are tremendous and she loved them all. May God shower his blessings on each and every one of you that touched her life. Thanks also to her church family at Riverview Baptist Church for their love, support and prayers through this difficult time. A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Horner's life will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Dr. Stephen Hancock officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Asbury Cemetery for a 10:00 a.m. interment service. Online condolences may be extended at www.rosemortuary.com.
