Martin L. Henry

Martin L. Henry, age 65, passed away on March 7, 2024. Martin was born January 8th, 1959 and grew up in the old Broadway area of Knoxville. He was raised by his loving grandparents, Velma (Granny) and Albert (Papaw) Henry. It was from them he gained his old-school values. He attended Fulton High School where he was on the golf team. His love for golf continued throughout his life. Marty had a knack to fix just about anything that was broken. He went on to work 30 years for the PBA repairing, building, maintaining, and servicing several government properties in downtown Knoxville. He took pride in his work and carried the fullest and heaviest key chain a belt loop could hold. He was able to retire young and enjoy himself after years of hard work. He loved old vehicles and anything Ford. He was known to have a collection of vehicles he was always tinkering on. Special friends Fred Williams and Joe Ruzzene were often by his side: playing golf, traveling, riding around the country on rainy days, cutting up, and causing trouble wherever they went. More than anything, Martin was a family man. His children and grandchildren were always first, even above himself. He leaves behind three children; Amanda Henry Cox (Sam), Lauren Henry, Patrick Henry, and four grandchildren; Jordan, Kenley, Kyrin, and Cicily. He also leaves behind his loving sister Kim Henry and special nephew Tyler Brown. Sheila H. Sharp, his aunt more like a mom, loved and looked after him all his life. He also leaves behind siblings Rodney (Lisa) and Paula Helms, mother Cena Marie Helms, several cousins and extended family. To know him, was to love him. He was funny, kind, hardworking, and had the biggest heart. Everywhere he went he ran into old friends. He is greatly missed and will forever be in our hearts. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Saturday March 16, 2024, at Rose Funeral & Cremation Broadway. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 pm with Dr. Alan Smith officiating.
