Mr. John Henry Jones

Mr. John Henry Jones of Knoxville, Tennessee, son of the late Vaughn and Ebbie Jones, was born on August 22, 1929 in Maynardville, Tennessee. He departed this life on April 28, 2022. He had professed faith in Christ and was a member and deacon of the Meridian Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. John was retired as manager of service department from Hobart Equipment Company where he worked for 36 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially sharing stories about the past. He was an avid University of Tennessee sports fan. Mr. Jones was a staff sergeant of the United States Air Force from March 1952- March 1956. He was also a Reserve Police Officer. He united in marriage to Elizabeth Rose Carr Jones on November 27, 1949 at the Broadway Baptist Church who survives. Besides his wife, other survivors include one daughter: Sheri (Ted) Taylor of Jefferson City, Tennessee; Three sons: John Henry (Paula) Jones Jr., Timothy Bryan Jones, and Jeff S. (Susan) Jones, all from Knoxville, Tennessee. Nine grandchildren: Ashley (Rob) Speas, Brannon (Brooke) Taylor, Adam Jones, Trent Jones, Taylor Jones, Anna Beth (Logan) Dedmon, Johnathan (Ellie) Jones, Abigail (Jacob) Dyer, and Madison (Justin) Johnson. Six great grandchildren: Taylor Jessie, Carson Jessie, Reece Taylor, Rylee Taylor, Will Taylor, and Jaxon Johnson. Two sisters, Edna Thomas and Beulah Braxton. One brother, Curtis Jones and several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings Vaughn Jones Jr., Jim Jones, Robert Jones, and Bobbie Sue Cardwell. The receiving of friends and visitation for John Henry Jones will be conducted at Rose Funeral & Cremation-Broadway, 1421 North Broadway Knoxville, TN 37917 on Tuesday May 3, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services to follow at 7:00 PM with Dr. G. Ted Taylor officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 AM Wednesday May 4, 2022 at Asbury Cemetery for an 11:00 AM graveside service.
