Nabeeh K. Eid

EID, NABEEH KAMIL - age 87, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Hillcrest West Nursing Home. Nabeeh was born in Haifa, Palestine on December 22, 1923. Upon the onset of the 1948 war and the loss of their home, the Eid Family moved to Syria for a few years before they relocated to Ramallah, Palestine in 1952. There he met his wonderful wife, Odette, They married in 1958 and moved to Amman, Jordan. In Jordan, he worked as a machinist with the Royal Jordanian Airlines, where he achieved highest seniority. In 1975, he sacrificed his career to immigrate to America for the sake of his sons' educations. The family settled in Knoxville where his wife's sister and husband, Samir and Renee' Jubran lived. They began a new life, owned a grocery store and put his two sons through the University of Tennessee. He retired in 1989. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kamil and Melvina Eid; sister, Salma Farah; brother, Ramiz Eid. Nabeeh is survived by his wife, Odette (Louisville, TN); sons, Kamil Eid and wife Aroub (Abu-Dhabi, UAE), Faris Eid and wife Ghada (Alcoa, TN); grandchildren, Ranya, Anthony (Washington, DC), Marwan, Rami (Alcoa TN), Sereen, and Marianna (Abu-Dhabi, UAE); sisters, Sumaya Zreik (Beirut, Lebanon) and Suha Eid (Amman, Jordan); his aunt Vera Khouri (Boston, MA); and the many cousins, nephews, and nieces. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff at Hillcrest West Nursing Home for their loving care. We also want to thank our family and friends for all their continued support and love. Pallbearers are: Anthony Eid, Marwan Eid, Rami Eid, John Kuchinic, Samer Shatara, Manuel Hazim, Elias Amireh, Nadim Eid. Receiving of friends will be at Mann Heritage Chapel, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, on Friday, August 5, from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m., followed by the traditional Trisagion prayer service. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Kingston Pike, at 11:00 a.m., followed by the interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Highway Alcoa, TN 37701.
