Nana Kelly Ruth Lewis "Branum"

Nana Kelly Ruth Lewis "Branum", age 57 of Knoxville, was greeted by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in her Heavenly home, Monday, May 10, 2021. Kelly passed away peacefully with her husband, son and daughter in law by her bedside following a brief and unexpected illness. Kelly was born March 14, 1964 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to the Reverend James (Jimmy) and Margaret (Lumpkin) Branum. She was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee and attended Bearden High School. She met the love of her life, husband James Lewis when she was only ten years old and he was twelve years old. They welcomed a son, Brandon, thereafter in 1983, whom she would describe as the greatest joy and blessing in her life. Kelly was a lifelong fan of Southern Gospel music. She played piano for many years at Bearden Gospel Baptist Church and was a member of Southern Gospel music groups, “The Singing Witnesses” and “Mercy Three”. She had a servant’s heart and was one of God’s fervent prayer warriors who strived to always live her life to glorify God. Kelly loved her family and her church family. She always had a smile, hug and kind words of encouragement for everyone. During this time of mourning and loss for her many friends and family, Kelly would want us to draw comfort and peace from God’s Word and promise. One of her favorite Bible verses states, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28. Kelly is survived by her loving husband, James Lewis; beloved son and daughter in law, Brandon and Amanda Lewis; six cherished grandchildren, Sean Lewis, Caitlyn Lewis, Carson Harrel, Emmalyn Harrel, Declan Harrel and Gavin Harrel; loving parents, Reverend James and Margaret Branum; brother and sister in law, Randy and Tonya Branum; sister, Robin Jones; multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, multiple friends and her “adopted” grandchildren, Dagan and Delaney. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Bearden Gospel Baptist Church, 5719 Walden Drive, Knoxville, TN 37919, with everyone welcome to join in Celebration of Kelly’s Life at 5:00 PM in the Sanctuary.
