Nancy S. Scruggs

Nancy S. Scruggs, age 73, of Knoxville, passed away on Thursday December 1, 2016, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a longtime member of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church. Nancy had an adventurous spirit, and loved dance, travel, and music. Outwardly, she was a proper Southern woman, but she also loved to break the rules, just to keep you on your toes. Nancy was a pillar of grace and strength, who loved and accepted people from all walks of life into her heart and home. Everyone she touched was changed for the better, as she always brought out the best in people by her generous spirit and unconditional love. She lived her life with dignity—and fun—and embodied the purest form of Christian love. She was the coolest Grana, keeping up with tech and trends and fashion better than her own children, and her grandchildren were her foremost priority. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Velma Chappell; and her husbands, Wendell Grey, Raymond Wilson, and Ronald Scruggs. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Christina Grey Myer and Marshall, Joanna Wilson McCormick and David; son and daughter-in-law, Wendell Grey, Jr. and Jett; step-son and daughter-in-law, Scott Scruggs and Lara; grandchildren, Stephen Skeen, Marshall Myer IV, Nicholas Porter, Riley Myer, Nathan Porter, Declan McCormick, Najena and Reymond McCroskey, Marian and Riker McCormick, Matthew, Jonathan, and Andrew Scruggs; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Ron Cruise; brother-in-law, Donald Scruggs; sisters-in-law, Juanita Wilson Pratt, and Ann and Binnie Wilson; beloved pets, Angel and Abi; and many other loving family member and friends. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm Sunday December 4, 2016, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. A celebration of life service will follow at 4:00 pm with Chaplain Craig Cruise officiating. The family and friends will gather at 12:15 pm Monday December 5, 2016, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel and travel in procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a 1:00 pm interment service with Rev.
