Nancy Davidson Worsham

Nancy Davidson Worsham, 83, died on Sunday afternoon, December 11, 2016, at her beautiful apartment overlooking sparkling Tampa Bay, in St. Petersburg, FL. She was surrounded by her daughters, and in the hearts and thoughts of her loving family, near and far. Nancy was born September 20, 1933, in Jackson, TN, to Lonnie Inman and Dorothy Corley Davidson. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Lisa (Charlie) Buchwalter, San Anselmo, CA; Henslee Worsham, Gatlinburg, TN; Liz LeBlanc, St. Petersburg, FL; and Lyn (Cheli Brown) Worsham, St. Petersburg, FL. She is also survived by grandchildren Sarah (Ari) Rabin, Simone (Hung Nguyen) Buchwalter, Ben (Deirdre Din) Buchwalter, Christina LeBlanc, Ali LeBlanc; two great-grandchildren, Ayla and Aron Rabin; her former husband, Earl Worsham, and one granddog, Buckie, whom she called “MY DOG!” Nancy graduated from The University of Tennessee, and was an avid Vols fan, spending many years going to both football and basketball games during Knoxville’s version of “Opera Season.” She was very active in the Knoxville social scene, with membership in Delta Delta Delta sorority, the Junior League, the Knoxville Garden Club, Sequoyah Hills Library, the Dogwood Art’s Festival, the Cat and Fiddle, the Nine O’Clock Cotillion, to name a few. She worked at the Social Security Administration, Andrew Morton’s, First Tennessee Bank, and The University of Tennessee. Nancy loved the beach from an early age, when she would travel in the winter to Daytona Beach with her mother on the train. She carried this love forward with her children, taking them sailing in the Virgin Islands; to the beach in Pawley’s Island, Vero Beach, and Destin; and countless afternoons at the swimming pool, playing cards. Vacations were spent exploring, telling tales of the Gray Man and Alice’s Grave, watching storms, drinking martinis at The Driftwood, and enjoying the fresh fish at Harbor Docks. Nancy was loved by and loved her friends and traveled to many wonderful locations around the world. Nancy was a Master Gardener, competitive Bridge Player, avid reader, gifted decorator, “mediocre” ukulele player and masterful party planner. She raised Dobermans, and even learned to fly a single engine plane… just in case. From finger bowls with rose petals to days at the horseback riding ring wearing feed sack dresses with diamonds and gold, to making the best country ham anyone has ever tasted, Nancy was good at everything on which she focused. She was a lovely lady, was loved greatly and will be missed by all. Family and friends will gather on Friday, December 16th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension for a Memorial Service with reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
