Paul E. Howard

Howard, Paul E. age 91 of Knoxville and Sebring, Florida passed away in his sleep Friday March 21, 2014 at Elmcroft of Halls. Paul was a longtime member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church, Owner & President of Howard & Howard Plumbing and Heating Co. of Knoxville and Harder-Hall Country Club in Sebring, Florida, a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps; an avid golfer and member of Holston Hills and Beaver Brook Country Clubs. A few of his noted accomplishments are: Knoxville City Councilman, Chairman of the National Plumbing Heating & Cooling Convention, Three-time President of the Knoxville Plumbing Heating & Cooling Contractors Association, President of the Tennessee Plumbing Heating & Cooling Contractors Association, Served on the Governors Study on Cost Control, Served on President Reagan’s Task Force, Appointed by Gov. Dunn to serve on the State Contractors Licensing Board. Paul enjoyed working and playing golf daily with his friends and employees of Harder Hall Country Club where he hosted the prestigious Harder Hall Women’s Invitational for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Evelyn Wyatt Howard, son Paul Keith Howard, sister Elsie Branam. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Tim and Jewell Howard, Dr. Nicholas W. and Carol Howard, Dean W. Howard; grandchildren: Dawn Howard Cooper, Brent Howard, Adam Howard, Brian Howard, Whitney Howard Ogle, Alyssa & Brogan Howard; seven great grandchildren; sister & brother-in-law Margaret & Col. Paul Smathers; brothers and sisters-in-law Charles (Dub) and Joyce Howard, Jim and Linda Howard, brothers-in-law Vernon Branam and Guy Ward. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 7: 30 p.m. with Rev. Vic Howard officiating. The family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment service with Military Honors presented by the Tennessee National Guard.
