Ronald Jenkins

Ron Jenkins, age 74, of Knoxville, TN passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 24, 2016. He was born in Harvington, KY on May 17, 1942. Ron moved to Knoxville at the age of 12 to live with his sisters and brothers in law, Maxine and Ed Atkins and Sylvia and D.M. Bingham. Ron attended Fulton High School. He met his beloved wife, Sandra Jenkins, with whom he was happily married for 56 years. Ron was an entrepreneur having various businesses over many years and working with his sons and son in law in those businesses. Ron was a member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge for 50 years, past president of the Tennessee Quarter Horse Association, a former Board of Directors member of Teen Board of Knoxville, a past Elder of Spring Place Presbyterian Church, chairman of the Building Committee for West Emory Presbyterian Church, and a founding member of International Medical Alliance. Ron loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchild. Ron is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Jenkins and his children, J.D. Jenkins and his wife, Lynne and her children Lauren Le Cren and Jacques Le Cren; Janet Kay Jenkins Dougherty and her husband, Scott; son, Arthur Jenkins, and his wife, Jennifer. Ron is also survived by his grandchildren, Dr. Justin Jenkins and his wife, Ashley; Jordan Jenkins and his wife, Cassity; Dr. Tyler Dougherty and his girlfriend, Stacie Gallegos and her children Xavier and Peyton; Kayla Dougherty Beets and her husband, Matt; Arthur Jenkins; Caitlyn Jenkins; Henry Jenkins; Jackson Jenkins; Landon Jenkins; great-granddaughter, Rowan Jenkins; sister, Sylvia Bingham, sister-in-law, Flo Lund and her husband, Bruce; nieces, Pam Bingham, Trisha LaForge and Erica Mullaney; nephews, Matt Bingham and Chuck Lindgren; and dear friends Bill Black, Ernie Black, and Carlos Mercado. Ron is preceded in death by his grandmother, Cora Arnwine; parents, Ida Treadway and Arthur Jenkins; sister, Maxine Atkins; brother-in-law, Ed Atkins; brother-in-law, D.M. Bingham; and in-laws, Dr. James Rhodes Smith and Floice Smith. The family will receive friends Thursday June 30th, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel, 1421 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917 followed by a memorial service at 7:00 pm. An 11:30 am graveside service will be held Friday at Spring Place Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 2000 Loves Creek Rd, Knoxville, TN 37924 at “Buffet Mill Rd”.
